Austrian Flagship project IoT4CPS comes to an end after 3 years
Over the last three years, the IoT4CPS project has addressed the challenges arising from the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in real industrial environments. Since in this context, in addition to cybersecurity issues, aspects of availability and (physical) security from the design to the operation of the plant must also be addressed, the project developed methods for a joint consideration of safety and security over the entire life cycle. The topic of security was considered on all levels, i.e. from the sensor to the communication interfaces and all the way to networked systems. The suitability of the innovative project results for use in networked industrial production facilities and in the area of networked vehicles was evaluated by means of various industrial demonstrators.

Official project closing event
The IoT4CPS consortium will be hosting a keynote session and parallel session in the course of this year´s virtual Summit Industrie 4.0 organized by Plattform Industrie 4.0.

Hauke Meyn from NXP will be giving a morning keynote about IoT Security: Trusted Value Chain in Industrie 4.0. The afternoon session will cover all aspects of security in the IoT context. After two prerecorded talks followed by live Q&A we are inviting industrial partners and anyone interested in upcoming calls and future projects to join in for exchange and networking.

Under the motto “Security in times of pandemics and major global events”, the IDSF 2020 is organized as a virtual conference from 02 – 03 December 2020 by the AIT Austrian Institute for Technology and the Austrian Chamber of Commerce (Wirtschaftskammer Österreich – WKO).

The session was joined by more than 30 participants from research and industry. A wide field of professional backgrounds provided a fruitful baseline for in-depht discussion on future challenges and legal aspects in the fields of autonomous vehicles and industry 4.0.

We are happy to announce that the IoT4CPS project consortium has established a cooperation with “Sensors” journal for a special issue on “IoT Security in Different Industrial Application Areas: Manufacturing, Autonomous Driving and Smart Farming”.

A demonstrator for automated security testing based on attack patterns has been developed as part of the “ICT of the Future” project IoT4CPS. The demonstrator named MqttRazzer is a framework for generating random tests including security attacks for or via an MQTT broker.

IoT4CPS will be part of this year´s FITCE IoT Circle hosted by FITCE Austria. Since 1962 FICTE Austria is the Austrian representation of the “Federation of Telecommunications Engineers of the European Community”.

The International Conference on Industry 4.0 and Smart Manufacturing will be taking place as a virtual event on November 23-25. IoT4CPS project partner SCCH will be covering the topic of “Security, Privacy and Protection in Industry 4.0” in two session. They will also be part of an expert panel.

The second Workshop on Industrial Security and IoT (WISI 2020) was conducted in the course of this year´s remote ARES & CD-MAKE Conference.

WISI 2021 will be hosted at next year´s edition at the University College of Dublin.

This deliverable describes methods for anomaly detection for IoT4CPS and its prototypical implementation as an Analytical Toolbox.
All respective results have been achieved by the IoT4CPS partners AIT, SCCH, and TU Vienna during the first and second phase of the project.
